Day 19 Future’s so bright…
I am writing this at 30,000 feet and on my tablet and I am using my index finger to type on the screen. So I am saying this will be short. We are headed to Florida and I am happy to report there have been no major mishaps thus far. Now that I’ve said that though, I am sure something annoying will occur before the end of the day.
Today was Arden’s last day of 1st grade, and I am happy that pick up was outside on a sunny afternoon as this allowed me to keep my sunglasses firmly in place to hide the eyes filled with tears as I hugged and said goodbye to her teacher and reading tutor. This has not been an easy year for us academically. Arden started out really struggling with reading and spelling and it took a ton of hard work and not a few tears but she finished above grade level! Her primary teacher and her reading teacher were determined to help her not only achieve but surpass the grade level goal. They gave us extra work to do at home, encouraged each small step towards progress and celebrated as loud or even louder than us when Arden succeeded. I will miss them both dearly. I am so thankful our paths crossed this year at the exact right moment in Arden’s school progression. God was so faithful to us in this situation. And so I cried a little today when I picked up my new 2nd grader from school and we walked hand in hand to the car. I have to say I am pretty excited to see what the future holds for this little achiever of mine…if this year is any Indication there isn’t much she can’t do when she puts her mind to it.
Well, we are preparing to land so i have to turn off devices.
See ya tomorrow.
